A Learning Luncheon and social / networking event for Central Ohio Mental Health Professionals, hosted by Kaela Rae Vance LPCC-S, spotlighting featured presenter, Brittany Schmidt, MSN, PMHNP, PMH-C and Beth Sanchez, MSN, PMHNP, PMH-C from Balance & Bloom Women's Wellness. At this luncheon, Brittany and Beth will be providing us with a presentation entitled "Psychiatric Medication Management: A Guide for Therapists & Clinicians".
About the Luncheon Presenter - Brittany Schmidt, MSN, PMHNP, PMH-C:
Brittany is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Perinatal Mental Health Certified provider specializing in women's mental health across the lifespan. As founder of Balance & Bloom Women's Wellness, she is passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, reproductive mental health concerns, and life transitions. Brittany takes a holistic, patient-centered approach that integrates psychiatric expertise with an understanding of the unique biological, emotional, and social factors affecting women's well-being. Through her clinical work, she is dedicated to empowering individuals with personalized treatment strategies that promote resilience, balance, and long-term mental wellness.
About the Luncheon Presenter - Beth Sanchez, MSN, PMHNP, PMH-C:
Beth is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Perinatal Mental Health Certified provider dedicated to supporting women through all stages of life. As a provider with Balance & Bloom Women's Wellness, Beth specializes in the assessment and treatment of anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and reproductive mental health concerns, including pregnancy and postpartum challenges. She is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care that recognizes the connection between mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Through a collaborative and holistic approach, Beth helps individuals develop personalized treatment plans that foster resilience, healing, and lasting wellness.
About the Luncheon Host - Kaela Rae Vance, LPCC-S:
Kaela is a Central Ohio Therapist whose clinical focus areas are grief and trauma. As a result, Kaela often sees patients also struggling with Anxiety, Depression, and PTSD. Kaela is trained in numerous modalities, including CTG, TF-CBT, and EMDR. Kaela honed her skills in grief and trauma counseling through her experience at the Family Support Program within Nationwide Children's Hospital Big Lots Behavioral Health Services as a Pediatric Trauma Therapist. Prior to her tenure at NCH, Kaela gained valuable experience at Columbus Springs, as an In-Patient Clinical Counselor. In spring of 2022, Kaela launched and grew her private counseling practice in Dublin, Ohio, which in January 2024 evolved into Teal Saguaro Wellness.
About the CEU Provider - Strongblossom, Inc.:
Strongblossom, Inc. is an approved provider of continuing education by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board for counselors, social workers, and marriage/family therapists. Approval #: RCST112403. Strongblossom is a Michelle Risser company. Michelle has been a therapist for over 20 years, certified in EMDR through EMDRIA, with advanced training in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International. In addition to counseling, Michelle provides clinical and business consulting, burnout coaching, and continuing education.

CEU Event Description:
Psychiatric medications are a common component of mental health treatment, yet many therapists receive limited training in psychopharmacology and medication management. This presentation provides clinicians with a practical overview of commonly prescribed psychiatric medications, explores when medication referral or reassessment may be appropriate, and highlights strategies for effective collaboration between therapists and psychiatric providers to improve patient outcomes and continuity of care.
CEU Event Objectives:
Describe the indications, benefits, common side effects, and clinical considerations associated with commonly prescribed psychiatric medications across diverse patient populations.
Examine the role of interdisciplinary collaboration between therapists and psychiatric providers in treatment planning, symptom monitoring, medication management, and continuity of care.
Identify clinical situations in which psychiatric evaluation, medication initiation, adjustment, or reassessment may be appropriate for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, PMDD, perinatal mood disorders, ADHD, trauma-related symptoms, or sleep disturbances.
CEU Event Credits:
At the completion of this event and a brief CEU evaluation, attendee will receive a certificate of completion for 1.0 CEU credits. CEU credits can only be awarded to individuals who pre-purchase the CEU option when RSVPing for the event, check-in prior to the event beginning, check-out at the conclusion of the event, and complete the required CEU evaluation.
Food & Beverage:
A light snack and bottled water will be provided to attendees, and McAlisters Deli (you may make an entrée selection when you RSVP) will be provided to those who choose the lunch option when RSVP-ing.
