A Learning Luncheon and social / networking event for Central Ohio Mental Health Professionals, hosted by Kaela Rae Vance LPCC-S, spotlighting featured presenter, Allie Nerderman, LPCC, from Capybara Counseling. At this luncheon, Allie will be providing us with a presentation entitled "Helping Clients Move Through and Beyond Shame".
About the Luncheon Presenter - Allie Nerderman, LPCC:
Allie is a licensed professional clinical counselor based in Columbus, Ohio, who earned her B.S. in Psychology from The Ohio State University and her M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College. With a diverse background that includes work in outpatient settings, detention facilities, addiction recovery, crisis centers, schools, and hospice care, Allie brings deep clinical experience and a compassionate, client-centered approach. At Capybara Counseling, LLC, she is known for helping individuals rediscover self-worth, navigate life transitions, and build emotional resilience through a strengths-based and trauma-informed lens that encourages authenticity, empowerment, and healing.
About the Luncheon Host - Kaela Rae Vance, LPCC-S:
Allie Nerderman, LPCC, (pronouns she/her) is a licensed professional clinical counselor based in Columbus, Ohio, who earned her B.S. in Psychology from The Ohio State University and her M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College. With experience spanning outpatient agencies, detention facilities, addiction recovery, crisis centers, schools, and hospice care, Allie brings a rich and varied clinical background. At Capybara Counseling, LLC she is known for her strengths-based, affirming, and trauma-informed approach—helping individuals reclaim self-worth, navigate major life transitions, and connect authentically with their identity. A dedicated advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, Allie leads support groups, trains volunteers, and cultivates safe therapeutic spaces rooted in compassion, growth and agency.
About the CEU Provider - Strongblossom, Inc.:
Strongblossom, Inc. is an approved provider of continuing education by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board for counselors, social workers, and marriage/family therapists. Approval #: RCST112403. Strongblossom is a Michelle Risser company. Michelle has been a therapist for over 20 years, certified in EMDR through EMDRIA, with advanced training in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International. In addition to counseling, Michelle provides clinical and business consulting, burnout coaching, and continuing education.

CEU Event Description:
This CEU presentation explores the origins and impact of shame while equipping clinicians with practical, compassionate strategies to help clients move through self-blame, cultivate self-compassion, and rebuild a sense of worth and wholeness.
CEU Event Objectives:
Define the psychological and physiological components of shame and differentiate it from related emotions such as guilt and embarrassment.
Identify common defense mechanisms and behavioral patterns that keep clients stuck in shame-based cycles.
Apply evidence-informed interventions that foster self-compassion, vulnerability, and emotional healing to support clients in moving beyond shame.
CEU Event Credits:
At the completion of this event and a brief CEU evaluation, attendee will receive a certificate of completion for 1.0 CEU credits. CEU credits can only be awarded to individuals who pre-purchase the CEU option when RSVPing for the event, check-in prior to the event beginning, check-out at the conclusion of the event, and complete the required CEU evaluation.
Food & Beverage:
A light snack and bottled water will be provided to attendees, and McAlisters Deli (you may make an entrée selection when you RSVP) will be provided to those who choose the lunch option when RSVP-ing.

Please note, RSVP is required for this event, we're unable to accommodate walk-in guests due to seating and catering limitations. Unless otherwise approved, attendance is contingent upon attendee being employed in the mental health field. If an registrant is found to not meet these prerequisites for this event, the registrant will be contacted and asked not to attend.
