Today I am reading "Where Do They Go?" by Julia Alvarez.
This gentle and poetic picture book tenderly explores a question that many children ask in times of grief: "Where do people go when they die?" Through lyrical verse and simple, comforting language, Julia Alvarez offers thoughtful reflections on loss, memory, and the unseen ways our loved ones remain with us even after death. In this Therapy Book Thursday livestream, we will use this story as a springboard for conversations about grief, feelings of sadness, and how to keep memories of loved ones alive in our hearts. It's a helpful tool for children navigating the early stages of loss, and a beautiful invitation to talk openly about death and remembrance in a safe, age-appropriate way.
