Earlier this week, Kaela Rae Vance, LPCC-S, owner of Teal Saguaro Wellness, had the privilege of presenting at Circleville City Schools as part of their professional development day for educators returning to the school year.
Hosted in partnership with the Chase Haley Project, this meaningful event created space for teachers and school staff to focus not only on their students’ well-being—but their own.
Centering Social & Relational Wellness
Kaela’s presentation focused on Social & Relational Wellness, highlighting the critical role that connection, emotional safety, and healthy relationships play within school environments.
While much of the conversation in education centers around student outcomes, this session intentionally broadened the lens—recognizing that educator well-being is foundational to student success.
Through thoughtful discussion, attendees explored:
How connection impacts both learning and emotional regulation
The importance of fostering psychologically safe environments in schools
Ways educators can support their own relational and emotional wellness
Honoring the Work of Educators
One of the most powerful aspects of the day was simply being in a room full of professionals who show up daily with care, dedication, and resilience.
Educators carry an immense responsibility—not just academically, but emotionally—and opportunities like this allow space to reflect, recharge, and reconnect with the “why” behind their work.
Kaela shared her appreciation for the energy and commitment present in the room, noting how impactful it is to engage with individuals who are deeply invested in the well-being of their students and school communities.
Grateful for Community Partnerships
This event was made possible through the ongoing work of the Chase Haley Project, an organization dedicated to supporting mental health and wellness initiatives within schools and communities.
Their commitment to creating conversations around emotional well-being continues to make a meaningful difference, and Teal Saguaro Wellness is honored to collaborate in that mission.
Looking Ahead
Experiences like this reinforce the importance of bringing mental health conversations into every space—including our schools.
When educators are supported in their own wellness, the ripple effects extend far beyond the classroom.
We’re incredibly grateful to the Chase Haley Project and Circleville City Schools for the opportunity to be part of such an impactful day—and we look forward to continuing this work in communities across Ohio.
