Supporting your mental health shouldn’t feel overwhelming, inaccessible, or confusing. For many of the people I meet—clients, caregivers, fellow clinicians, and even friends and family—learning how the mind, body, and spirit interact is one of the most empowering parts of their healing journey. Over and over again, I’ve heard people say things like, “I wish I understood this sooner,” or “I didn’t know this piece mattered so much,” or “No one ever explained this part of mental health before.”

That’s exactly why I’ve created a brand-new series of free, accessible informational guides—mini-eBooks designed to support you, encourage you, and give you clear, practical insight into the holistic factors that shape your emotional wellbeing. These guides are now available on the Teal Saguaro Wellness website, and they’re yours to download at no cost.

These resources were created for three groups:

  • individuals seeking support,

  • friends and family who want to better understand their loved one’s healing process, and

  • mental health professionals looking for client-friendly educational tools.

Whether you’re walking through grief, managing trauma symptoms, navigating stress, or simply eager to learn what functional mental health actually looks like, these guides were made with you in mind.

Why I Created These Guides

As many of you know, I approach therapy a little differently. My lens is grief-informed, trauma-informed, functional, and deeply holistic. That means I pay attention to the full picture—mind, body, and spirit—not just the emotional symptoms someone brings into the room.

Over the years, I’ve found that people heal more fully and more sustainably when they understand why their body reacts the way it does, how daily choices influence mood, and what factors contribute to the struggles they’re facing. Education is empowering. It gives people language, clarity, and direction. And for clinicians, it provides a framework for deeper, more collaborative treatment.

So these guides were built to be simple, warm, readable, and highly practical—something you can read in one sitting but return to again and again.

What’s Inside the Free Guide Series

Each guide focuses on a core functional-mental-health topic, written in approachable language and grounded in the philosophy that emotional wellness requires whole-person care. Here’s a look at what you’ll find:

1. Improving Mental Health Through Supplementation - This guide breaks down the ways key nutrients—like magnesium, B vitamins, vitamin D, and omega-3s—support the brain, regulate mood, and ease symptoms of anxiety and depression. It offers clarity on why supplementation is often misunderstood, how it fits within a holistic plan, and what research has shown about nutritional deficiencies and emotional wellbeing.

2. Balancing Hormones for Better Mental Health - Hormones influence more than we realize—energy, sleep, focus, stress tolerance, emotional steadiness, and mood regulation. This guide explores cortisol, estrogen, progesterone, thyroid hormones, insulin, testosterone, and the ways imbalance can mimic or intensify mental health symptoms. It also provides natural strategies for supporting hormonal equilibrium.

3. The Benefits of Therapy for Seniors Dealing With Loss - Seniors face a uniquely layered form of grief—loss of peers, shifting independence, increased isolation, and complex emotional transitions. This guide helps caregivers, adult children, clinicians, and seniors themselves recognize warning signs, understand the emotional landscape, and access compassionate, age-sensitive support.

4. Critical Connections Between Sleep and Mental Health - Sleep is one of the most overlooked pillars of mental health. This guide explains how sleep affects emotional regulation, cognitive performance, stress response, and mood stability—and offers 10 actionable strategies for improving sleep from a functional-wellness perspective.

5. Reduce Stress and Eat Healthier Through Meal Planning - For many individuals and families, daily nutrition decisions feel overwhelming. This guide shows how intentional meal planning can reduce stress, stabilize mood, and restore structure to an overstimulated nervous system. It includes step-by-step planning strategies and practical weekly routines.

6. Improving Mental Health Through Diet - This resource explores the powerful relationship between food and mood—from gut health to inflammation to cognitive function. It helps readers understand how eating patterns influence anxiety, depression, energy, and emotional resilience, and it provides supportive strategies for real-life implementation.

7. Recipes That Promote Positive Mental Health - This is a large, beautiful recipe guide packed with nutrient-dense, brain-supportive meals, snacks, juices, and smoothies. Each recipe includes a brief explanation of how its ingredients support mental health, along with simple instructions and nutrition details.

Taken together, these guides create a library of practical, functional-health knowledge—perfect for anyone wanting to better understand the body-brain connection.

Who These Guides Are For

Individuals Seeking Therapy or Support

If you’re exploring therapy, in therapy, or simply trying to understand your own symptoms more clearly, these guides can help you connect the dots between emotional, physical, spiritual, and lifestyle factors. They’re gentle, educational, and empowering—intended to support you, not overwhelm you.

Friends and Family of Those Struggling

It can be hard to know how to help someone you love. These guides provide context, compassion, and understanding—giving you tools to support your loved one with greater empathy and confidence.

Mental Health Professionals

If you’re a clinician, coach, or care provider, these guides make excellent psychoeducational tools. Feel free to share them with your clients or integrate them into your practice as a resource for teaching foundational functional-mental-health principles.

Why Functional + Holistic Mental Health Matters

Every guide in this series reflects the heart of my work: healing is most effective when we honor the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

Emotions do not exist in isolation. Hormones matter. Sleep matters. Nutrients matter. Stress patterns matter. Spiritual life matters. Community matters. Lifestyle matters. Therapy matters.

When we look at all of these layers together, we get a more complete picture of what someone is experiencing—and a clearer path forward. My hope is that these guides help you begin (or continue) that journey with greater understanding.
