Empowering Professionals: A Recap of Jonathan Miller's Presentation on Dissociation

Mar 2, 2024

The recent Central Ohio Mental Health Professionals Luncheon was a resounding success, bringing together a diverse group of mental health professionals for a day of learning, networking, and socializing. Hosted by Kaela Rae Vance LPCC-S of Teal Saguaro Wellness, the event featured a presentation by Jonathan Miller, LPCC-S, of Miller Counseling LLC, titled "Dissociation: Where does the time go?".

Jonathan Miller, with over twenty-five years of experience in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, and grief, delved into the complex topic of dissociation, drawing from his extensive background working with survivors of domestic violence, violent crime, and sexual abuse. His expertise in trauma and borderline personality disorders, coupled with his training in EMDR, DBT, and CBT, provided attendees with valuable insights and strategies for working with clients facing dissociative symptoms.

Kaela Vance, known for her clinical focus on grief and trauma, hosted the event with warmth and expertise. Trained in modalities such as CTG, TF-CBT, and EMDR, Kaela's experience at Nationwide Children's Hospital Big Lots Behavioral Health Services, Columbus Springs, and most recently her own private practice, has equipped her to address the complex needs of her clients. Her dedication to the field of mental health was evident as she welcomed attendees, introduced the presenter, and ensured a smooth flow of the event.

The luncheon's itinerary, which included a brief social time, the presentation, a Q&A session with Jonathan Miller, and networking opportunities during lunch, allowed attendees to not only expand their knowledge but also connect with peers in the mental health community. The event concluded on a high note, leaving participants inspired and equipped with new insights to apply in their practice.
